From the desk of Sensei
All children try to succeed and it is our wish to help them achieve all their goals. Let us help them with all our expertise and not instill in them to compare themselves with other children in our karate program. Some children will attain a high degree of proficiency in forms, others in weapons, and still others in sparring and there is that unique student who is an all around and seems to be very proficient in all areas of Karate. Some of our children learn at a slower pace than others...THAT IS OK...but if you ask your child why they did not get promoted or why they have not been selected to compete then they find themselves in a race and as we all know there are only two possibilities in a race....a winner and a runner-up...this causes the child to feel inferior and they try to segregate themselves from the team concept toward which we are heading. Lets work together in trying to learn at our own pace, at our own ability, and not instill negative and harmful thoughts....all this does is set the children up to fail. Our primary objective is to teach a child to set goals...achieve them....then set new goals and work hard to find a solution to any problem they face. Three things we must remember: 1. We must all work hard in order to succeed. 2. We all start at the bottom and must never quit anything we start. 3. Nothing you get for free is ever cherished.
The journey has begun.....lets all achieve our goals together. Sensei
